Our watchful friend Phil Kerpen brings us news this morning that a Missouri court has crushed down the notion that a state health entity can wield power over a population without a representative body being involved. The MO Department of Health and Senior Services cannot shut down a school or quash an assembly “based on the unfettered opinion of an unelected official.”

Pew research recently conducted a poll asking Americans what gives their life meaning. 1 in 20 people responded that COVID did. 😲 Virtue signaling is the domain of those who have nothing else to live for really. We’ve had these posters and images up for a while and the stats have remained pretty much intact. We’ve always found it best to find real-world relational risks to bring into the equation. So, feel free to tweet these out, pass these around or print them out and put them around the office :)

I’m gonna be honest with you. It’s a slow month at the CDC. They haven’t updated the case surveillance file. They haven’t updated a lot of things. I would think with 20,000 employees they might be able to produce on a higher scale. Regardless, here are two interesting charts showing the number of “mentions” of conditions associated with COVID-19 deaths. What you see here are the different types of comorbidities which people typically succumb to in conjunction with Covid.

The always reliable Phil Kerpen (@kerpen) has updated the rank of states by Covid-19 deaths per 100K in population. He’s also done us the great service of adjusting for age. Why do we adjust for age? Because the median age of death for COVID is 80 years old. If compare the mortality rate of The Villages, FL (median age 68) to Mountain View, CA (24) that’s apples & oranges. That’s why we adjust for age. It’s like comparing the mortality rate of at West Point to a nursing home in Illinois.
